About / since 2012

Built to be sent.

An open Bible on a dark wooden table

Tidewell began in 2012 in a rented dance studio with nineteen people, one guitar and a folding table of coffee. We did not set out to build a network of campuses. We set out to find out whether a group of ordinary neighbors could be a family that actually changes a city.

Today we are four campuses and one church. Each campus has its own pastor, its own streets and its own personality, and every one of them carries the same purpose: help people follow Jesus together, and send them back out with hope.

We believe the church is not a show or a brand. It is a people. Our job is to be one, in every neighborhood we are given.

What we hold to

What we believe

What we believe.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is God's word, our final authority for what we believe and how we live.

Jesus

We believe Jesus is fully God and fully man, that he died for our sins, rose bodily, and will return.

Grace

We believe we are saved by grace through faith, not by anything we do.

The Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit lives in every believer, makes us more like Jesus, and equips the church.

The church

We believe the local church is God's plan for his people: baptism, communion, community and mission.

Hope

We believe God is making all things new and that we get to live that hope now.

The people

The people you will meet.

The pastors and leaders who read every email. Say hello.

Daniel Okafor

Lead pastor

Started Tidewell in a rented dance studio and still believes the church is a family before it is anything else. Preaches one passage at a time.
